[Msw] MSW & SW Dept. Stuff!

[Brenda Moore]

Dear students - in case you didn't know, MARCH IS NATIONAL SOCIAL WORK
MONTH!! The NASW theme for this year is "Social Work Matters" - I'd
encourage you to visit the NASW website for more information (and ideas
for acknowledging this national recognition of our profession)! Take
the opportunity to share this with your colleagues at work or field as
well!! Not only does "Social Work Matter", so does each and every one
of you seeking to join the profession as a MSW!!!

Also, one other bit of good news... the Department of Social Work has
been approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB)
to change our name to the Texas A&M -Commerce School of Social Work
(pending final approval through SACS) !! This is consistent with most
other MSW programs, nationally and in Texas. So, stay tuned for further
updates as we continue to progress in enrollment, recognition, and
stature! !

Enjoy the remainder of the semester and best wishes!

Brenda Moore, Department Head
