HOPKINS COUNTY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL 

      HAS AN IMMEDIATE OPENING FOR 

                 SOCIAL WORKER I

 

DEPARTMENT:  Case Management

 

JOB SUMMARY:                Will assist the patient in personal, emotional, economic and environmental difficulties related to illness.  Since families are also affected by anxieties and economic stresses caused by illness or crisis, planning must also be family focused.  Responsibilities may include identification and assessment of social problems, discharge planning, counseling on patient/family relationship problems, reaction to illness, treatment or disability, location of a family member,  participating as a team member, making referrals to community agencies, and financial assessments. Rotating Call required. 

 

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

A.            Education:   University graduate with a  Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Social Work. 

                                                   Masters Level Preferred.

                                                   Basic understanding of medical and social work terminology. 

   Good interpersonal skills and excellent writing skills.

 

C.            Licensure, Registry or Certification:  

                                   Current License by Texas State Board of  Social Work as Licensed

                                    Social Worker.  Current CPR certification or  successful completion

                                    of BCLS course within introductory  period required.

 

D.            Experience: One year experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
