Last week I reviewed some materials pertaining to journalism and public relations majors and minors, secondary education certification, and course descriptions. Dr. Dempsey will work with Ms. Robinson in cleaning up some errors in listings for the Department of Mass Media, Communication, and Theatre, specifically (for us) data about journalism/news-editorial and journalism/public relations. The information, I trust, will be correct when you look at the data. But do allow time for changes to be made as other units on campus are examining Catalog pages also, and changes may take weeks.

Also, be reminded that the Department (MMCT) approved new curricula for students entering our majors after the fall term of 2011. Students enrolled in A&M-Commerce before the fall of 2011 may complete degree requirements under the Catalog in force during the semester they first entered. A sheet was available last year, and we will try to make that sheet available this summer and during the fall of 2012.

Be sure you keep looking at your progress-the core courses, major classes, and minor requirements. Ask for help if you need it, especially if you are targeting a specific semester in which to finish your bachelor’s degree. Also remember to check to see if a particular class you need in MMCT or elsewhere is going to be offered in the term you anticipated. Have any transfer hours submitted to the Registrar. This way, you can perhaps head-off a last-minute concern.

--Dr. Bridges

Kim Cook

Journalism Office

903-886-5239 Phone

903-886-5230 Fax

Restorative, Learner, Analytical, Input, Belief
