Dear International Students:
Welcome back to campus physically or remotely for Spring 2021 semester! Hope you had great summer breaks. The Office of International Programs (OIP) is reaching out to assure you of our devotion to serving you. We care about your academic success and immigration stability, so, use our services and do all in your power to maintain your F-1 status. Please be cognizant of these important regulations.
F-1 Status and Full-time Enrollment
F-1 students are required to register for full course load in fall and spring semesters.
* Undergraduate students: A minimum of 12 credits
* Graduate students (Non-GAs): A minimum of 9 credits
* GAs, TAs, etc.: A minimum of 6 credits
*If course enrollment is below full-time status i.e. part-time, SEVIS record will be terminated.
Online Course Enrollment in COVID-19 pandemic
* Returning / Continuing international students who were registered at TAMUC in Fall 2020 may register for all online courses in Spring 2021 semester, and may study in the U.S. or from their home countries.
* New transfer students i.e. those who transferred to TAMUC for fall but were registered in U.S. institutions in Fall 2020, may register for all online courses in Spring 2021 semester in the U.S.
* New Incoming students i.e. those who entered the U.S. to begin classes in Spring 2021, are not permitted to register for all online courses during Fall 2020 semester. *Your schedules must be combinations of F2F and online courses.
Failure to Maintain F-1 Status and Reinstatement Application
If a student registers part-time, s/he will be out of status. SEVIS record is "TERMINATED" when student is out of status. To regain F-1 status, student must apply for "REINSTATEMENT" with the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) or travel and re-enter the U.S. on a new SEVIS ID Number. Please ensure that you comply with enrollment regulations to avoid "SEVIS Record Termination."
COVID-19 Pandemic and Social Distancing Within OIP
Due to COVID-19 pandemic, OIP will continue to maintain physical distance from students. If you must visit the office, please wear your mask. We are located in Ferguson 221. You may also email us at: Intl.Stud at tamuc.edu<mailto:Intl.Stud at tamuc.edu> and we'll be glad to respond to you.
