[Intl-stu] System insurance waiver deadline is September 6, 2017

This email is a courtesy email reminder to ALL international students and has been sent through the Intl-Stu list serve.

The deadline to submit your waiver request from the System Student Health Insurance Plan (SSHIP) is September 6, 2017. Please note that any supporting document must be submitted to Academic Health Plans (AHP) immediately upon their request:

*        If your waiver is approved by AHP please allow us up to 30 days to confirm your waiver and remove the SSHIP charge

*        It is your responsibility to follow-up with AHP to confirm your waiver request

If you are not an F-1 or J-1 visa student or you have not applied for a change of visa status to F-1 you will need to email the following documentation to our dedicated insurance email IntlInsurance at tamuc.edu<mailto:IntlInsurance at tamuc.edu> by September 6, 2017.  Documents sent to any alternate email will not be processed.  IF YOU HAVE ALREADYS SUBMITTED YOUR DOCUMENTS THEN NO ADDITIONAL ACTION IS REQUIRED:

*        Receipt or approval notice for benefit or visa category (TPS approval, Green Card approval)

*        Copy of passport, visa, or I-94 to show visa category other than F-1 or J-1

*        EAD card (for TPS or Permanent Resident)

*        DO NOT submit a waiver request through the AHP waiver website

*        Please allow us up to 30 days from January 17 to review your documents and remove the SSHIP charge.

If you have a full-time graduate assistantship (GA) with Grad Plan insurance  then you will need to submit the Assistantship Waiver Verification Form<http://www.tamuc.edu/campusLife/campusServices/internationalStudentServices/FormsOnlineServices/assistantship_form.aspx> if you haven't already.  If you have submitted the form then no additional action is required:

*        The ISSS is required to verify a student's GA and Grad Plan coverage from the A&M-Commerce HR Office and the A&M System Benefits Office each semester

*        Please allow up to 30 days from the start of the semester (August 28) to receive confirmation and update your student account

*        We utilize the verification form to address any discrepancies in the information reported to our office

*        We cannot waiver students simply because they submitted the verification form
