[Intl-stu] Travel Signature Week and Travel Information Session

International Students intl-stu at tamuc.edu
Wed Nov 18 09:36:02 CST 2015

Don't forget that the ISSS will host Travel Signature Request walk-in times from Monday, November 30 through Friday, December 4 from 1pm-4pm in Halladay 104. The ISSS will also be hosting travel information sessions to discuss best practices when traveling outside the U.S., visa renewal, and other topics. The travel information sessions will be on Tuesday, December 1 at 4pm and Wednesday, December 2 at 4pm in BA 221. Registration is required and to register for the information session go to http://bit.ly/1MBroKw.

Please remember:

  * A travel signature is valid for 12 months from the date of the signature for re-entry to the U.S. Attached is a sample of where the travel signature is located on the I-20.
  * Students traveling outside the U.S. with an expired visa will need to renew their visa before they will be allowed to re-enter. For information about renewing your visa go to http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/study-exchange/student.html. Please note the unofficial or official transcript is sufficient for the visa renewal and the ISSS no longer issues visa renewal letters per the guidance from the U.S. Department of State.
  * The passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of re-entry.
  * For more information about traveling outside the U.S. go to http://www.ice.gov/sevis/travel.
  * Please be sure to complete the Travel Request Signature form at http://bit.ly/1rNGPFf BEFORE you visit the ISSS. The ISSS may request a copy of a student's travel itinerary in certain circumstances.

The ISSS will be re-issuing new I-20's with the new I-20 format (began June 2015) so all students are encouraged to request a travel signature if there is any chance you will travel outside the U.S. Please be sure to complete the Travel Request Signature form at http://bit.ly/1rNGPFf BEFORE you visit the ISSS.

Due to the high number of emergency travel signature requests by students this semester any student requesting an emergency travel signature outside the dedicated Travel Signature Weeks in November and December will be required to provide additional documentation to verify the emergency and a copy of their travel itinerary confirming the departure date.
