U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has some great information on how to avoid scams that target non-citizens at http://www.uscis.gov/avoid-scams. Please be sure to read this helpful information.

As a general rule:

* NEVER NEVER NEVER provide your personal information (bank information, credit card information, SSN, passport number, etc) to anyone over the phone

* If someone calls you and says you will be deported or your visa status is in jeopardy if you do not make payment or provide them certain personal information please contact the ISSO immediately or refer the person to the Director of the ISSO, John Mark Jones, at 903-886-5097

* If you ever have any doubts please be sure to contact the ISSO
