Undergraduate students...are you enrolled in at least 12 hours with at least 9 hours face to face?

Graduate students...are you enrolled in at least 9 hours with at least 6 hours face to face?

The attached guidance form provides examples and instructions on how to enroll properly.

F-1 and J-1 international students are required by the Student Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) to be enrolled in a full course of study each fall and spring semester. Students are required to have the permission of an international student advisor in the International Student Services Office before they enroll in less than a full course of study or drop before a full course of study. A full course of study is:

  * A minimum of 12 semester credit hours for undergraduate students
  * A minimum of 9 semester credit hours for graduate students
  * Please note that only one (1) online course (3 semester credit hour course) will count toward the full course of study requirement
  * Students are not required to study during the summer unless it is their first semester at A&M-Commerce or first semester to study in their academic program

Students who meet one of the exceptions below that are allowed by SEVP will need to complete the Reduced Course Load form at http://www.tamuc.edu/CampusLife/CampusServices/internationalStudentServices/formsAndOnlineServices.aspx prior to the start of the semester. This will meet your reporting requirement with us:

  * Student in last semester with less than full course of study left to graduate (limit to online courses)
  * Student with full-time graduate assistant
  * Student concurrently enrolled in courses at A&M-Commerce and another school (please contact ISSO)
  * Student completing thesis or dissertation

Students who plan to enroll in less than a full course of study and do not meet any of the above requirements will need to discuss this with an international student advisor in the ISSO PRIOR to dropping below a full course of study.
