This email is to provide important information about traveling during the summer break and also information about the visa renewal process for students.

For students who will travel within the U.S. it is strongly recommended that you travel with all of your documents if you are traveling outside the Commerce or Dallas/Fort Worth area. This will include the following:

*         Valid I-20

*         Passport

*         Visa

* I-94 (print out if electronic record)

For students who will travel outside the U.S. you will need to have the following documents to re-enter the U.S. For more information about traveling outside the U.S. go to http://www.tamuc.edu/CampusLife/CampusServices/internationalStudentServices/currentStudents/visa-and-travel-resources1/default.aspx:

* Valid I-20 with travel signature within past twelve months

* Passport (valid for at least 6 months beyond date of re-entry)

*         Valid visa
The Department of State also recommends the following:

* Official or unofficial transcript from A&M-Commerce (may be requested through myLEO)

* Receipt of payment for I-901 SEVIS fee

* Proof of financial support for one year of study in U.S.

For students who will travel outside the U.S. on an expired visa, you will need to renew your visa before you may re-enter the U.S. For information on renewing your visa go to http://www.tamuc.edu/CampusLife/CampusServices/internationalStudentServices/currentStudents/visa-and-travel-resources1/default.aspx. Please note that a letter verifying enrollment from the university is not required or a part of the process to renew your visa. You may print off a copy of your unofficial or official transcript through your myLEO.

There are exceptions to the visa renewal requirement for students who travel to countries or islands adjacent to the U.S. for less than 30 days. Go to http://www.ice.gov/sevis/travel/faq_f2.htm#_Toc81222003 for more information.
