As a reminder, USCIS requires all F-1 and J-1 international students to
be enrolled in a full course of study each fall and spring semester.
There are very few exceptions to this USCIS rule and YOU MUST HAVE
PERMISSION FROM THE ISSO BEFORE YOU DROP BELOW A FULL COURSE OF STUDY.

A full course of study is:

* A minimum of 12 credit hours for undergraduate students with
at least 9 credit hours face to face. The remaining 3+ credit hours may
be online "W" or face to face.

* A minimum of 9 credit hours for graduate students with at
least 6 credit hours face to face. The remaining 3+ credit hours may be
online "W" or face to face.

* Please note that only one (1) online "W" course counts toward
the full course of study requirement.

THERE IS A DROP DATE APPROACHING AND STUDENTS NEED TO BE CAREFUL TO NOT
DROP BELOW A FULL COURSE OF STUDY WITHOUT FIRST RECEIVING PERMISSION
FROM THE ISSO. PERMISSION FROM YOUR ACADEMIC DEPARTMENT OR ADVISOR IS
NOT ENOUGH TO ALLOW YOU TO DROP BELOW A FULL COURSE OF STUDY! Failure
to meet the full course of study requirement will result in a violation
of your visa status and jeopardize your ability to remain in the U.S.
