[Intl-stu] Good Neighbor Scholarship

[International Students]

The ISSO has received notice from the Texas Higher Education
Coordinating Board (THECB) that applications are being accepted for the
Good Neighbor Scholarship (GNS). The GNS provides exemption of tuition
(not fees) for students from other nations of the Western Hemisphere
(excluding Cuba).

PLEASE NOTE THAT ONLY STUDENTS FROM COUNTRIES ON THE ATTACHED CODE OF
ELIGIBLE COUNTRIES AND WHO MEET ALL REQUIREMENTS ARE ELIGIBLE.

This GNS scholarship is exclusive to the State of Texas and provides a
complete waiver of tuition to eligible international students from
countries in the Caribbean and North, Central, and South America.
Scholarship winners must still pay all applicable university fees.
Applicants compete with other international students from their home
countries throughout the state of Texas for a limited number of awards
that are given to a certain number of students from each country.
Competition is intense, and final award decisions are made by The Texas
Higher Education Coordinating Board, not Texas A&M University-Commerce.
The application period generally begins in January of each year and is
open until the end of February. This year we received the notice for the
scholarship late and applications are due NO LATER than Wednesday, March
6 at 5pm.

If you are from one of the countries listed on the attached Code of
Eligible Countries list and meet the requirements on the attached GNS
Info form then please complete the attached GN Application and submit
the application and required essay in person to the ISSO in Halladay 104
or email to John.Jones at tamuc.edu. Applications must be received no
later than 5pm on Wednesday, March 6, 2013.
