Subject: [Intl-stu] Are you enrolled in a full course of study this
fall?
As a reminder, all F-1 and J-1 international students are required by
USCIS to enroll in a full course of study each fall and spring semester.
Students are required to have the permission of the ISSO prior to
enrolling in less than a full course of study. Permission from your
academic advisor or instructor is not sufficient. A full course of
study is:
* A minimum of 12 hours for undergraduate students with 9 hours
face to face and the remaining 3+ hours face to face or online
* A minimum of 9 hours for graduate students with 6 hours face
to face and the remaining 3+ hours face to face or online
There are very limited exceptions allowed by USCIS and if you meet one
of the exceptions below this fall then please complete the Report Less
than Required Hours form at
http://www.tamuc.edu/studentLife/campusServices/internationalStudentServ
ices/formsAndOnlineServices.aspx prior to August 26. Please submit this
form if fall is:
* Your last semester and you have less than a full course of
study to complete your requirements
* You are working on completing your thesis or dissertation
* You have a full-time graduate assistantship
* You are concurrently enrolling in courses at A&M-Commerce and
another school (must contact ISSO)
If you plan to enroll in less than required hours this fall and you do
not meet one of the above exceptions you must contact the ISSO
immediately to discuss your situation. Failure to meet the full course
of study requirement will jeopardize your visa status and your ability
to remain in the U.S. You may contact the ISSO with any questions or
concerns.
