As a reminder, the A&M System has changed health insurance providers for
all A&M System schools this fall semester. Academic Health Plans (AHP)
will provide management and administrative services for the student
health plans of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. For more information
go to
http://www.tamuc.edu/studentLife/campusServices/internationalStudentServ
ices/currentStudents/insurance.aspx.
Below are some of the changes you need to be aware of:
* Insurance cost will increase to an estimated $639 per semester
(fall/spring)
* The insurance will be effective from August 17 to December 31
this year (renewal in spring)
* Insurance cards will be mailed out in the middle of September
to the ISSO but it will be possible for students to receive their
insurance cards earlier if necessary
* The waiver deadline is August 26 (students will submit their
waiver eligibility to AHP and not the ISSO)
* The ISSO is working with AHP to provide an information
workshop the first week of classes (tentative date is Wednesday, August
28 in the afternoon)
The AHP portal will be live this week and the first report for all
students enrolled will be submitted to AHP today or within the next few
days. Students who are currently enrolled in courses for the fall may
be receiving an email from AHP (Academic Health Plans) with instructions
on different aspects of the AHP web portal. If you have any questions
contact John.Jones at tamuc.edu.
Instructions for submitting your waiver will be provided via email from
AHP once you have registered for classes and your information has been
submitted to AHP. All waiver requests will be submitted to AHP and the
ISSO will not process any waiver requests. For information on waiver
eligibility go to
http://www.tamuc.edu/studentLife/campusServices/internationalStudentServ
ices/currentStudents/insurance.aspx. Please note that no outside
insurance will be accepted unless the student meets one of the eligible
waivers.
THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT A WAIVER REQUEST IS AUGUST 26. STUDENTS WHO ARE
SPONSORED BY THEIR GOVERNMENT WILL NEED TO MAKE SURE THE FINANCIAL
SERVICES OFFICE HAS A CURRENT FINANCIAL GUARANTEE ON FILE.
The ISSO will send out more information once we confirm the first
enrollment report has been submitted to AHP. If you have any questions
you may email John.Jones at tamuc.edu.
