The U.S. Department of State recently issued a worldwide travel alert
for U.S. citizens traveling or residing abroad. We understand that this
warning is for U.S. citizens but we wanted to make our international
students traveling to the U.S. aware of these alerts. For more
information regarding the alerts go to
http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/pa/pa_6042.html.

International students need to be prepared for delays as they pass
through port of entry with U.S. Customs. Individuals processed through
port of entry U.S. Customs at the Dallas/Fort Worth airport have
recently experienced delays up to 4 hours or more. A memo from a high
ranking U.S. Customs and Border Protection official earlier this summer
also indicated there may be delays with processing international
students through port of entry due to changes in procedure. Students
need to allow plenty of time in their travel itinerary for any possible
delays.

The U.S. Department of State also announced that U.S. Embassies and
Consulates in certain Middle Eastern and Northern African countries will
be closed on Sunday, August 4,2013. These closures may create delays
with students applying for a student visa.
