This is a call out for all International students,
If you already have an international student organization or a only a
few students from your country alone, it's time to unite!!! If you are
just a student or two from your country and want to unite with other
international students and form a group contact Association of
International Students and/or Brenda.Brand at tamuc.edu and they will start
a list of students to contact each other to form a group for Homecoming.
Every year the university has a homecoming celebration. Start your
planning to participate now. Homecoming is the tradition of welcoming
back past <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alumni> students of a school.
It most commonly refers to a tradition in many universities
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universities> , colleges
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/College> and high schools
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_school> in North America. It usually
includes activities for CURRENT and past students and alumni, such as
sports and culture events and a parade through the streets of the city
or town.
This year's homecoming theme is 'Go for the Gold' with an Olympics style
theme.
Here is just a few of the events scheduled for the 2012 Homecoming:
Homecoming Opening Ceremony - Monday, October 22nd from 4:00pm-5:30pm in
the Amphitheater Join us as we begin the Homecoming festivities for the
week featuring a "represent your culture/organization march" and there
will be big group photos after the opening ceremony so dress
traditionally. Also included in the opening ceremony will be free food
and entertainment! Homecoming T-Shirts will be available.
CAB Talent Show - Wednesday, October 24h from 7:30pm-9:00pm in the RSC
Conference Rooms, 2nd floor Join CAB for an exciting show as
A&M-Commerce students show-off their various talents and compete to win
up to $300! The event will be hosted by NBC's Last Comic Standing
semi-finalist Cristela Alonzo. This show will be packed with
entertainment, believe us - you won't want to miss this!
Homecoming Parade scheduled for some time during this week. Ideas for
participating in the parade-
1. Get together as a group and walk together in traditional dress
with banners, signs, drums, or anything else you can think of.
2. Go to a local car sales business and ask if they would like to
participate in the Texas A&M University - Commerce Homecoming Parade by
providing a truck and/or trailer for you to decorate for the parade.
3. Decorate your own car or truck and have friends ride with you.
You can also decorate it but not to interfere with normal operation.
4. Ride your bicycle. You can also decorate it but not to interfere
with normal operation.
Google 'simple parade floats' and 'parade bicycles ' for ideas for
decorating your car, truck, or bicycle. Remember there will be a theme
to the whole homecoming week so use it for decoration ideas.
Bonfire - Friday, October 26th at 9:00pm at the Cain Sports Complex Get
pumped up for our homecoming game and join us for an evening full of
spirit and excitement! The event will feature a live band, fireworks,
and fun activities!
Banner, Door, and Window Decorating contest-The ISSO has large windows
that need decorating. Make a plan and talk to Brenda about using our
windows. The ISSO already is planning a door/banner decoration.

"Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all
peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that
if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends."
