All F-1 and J-1 international students are required by U.S. Citizenship
and Immigration Services (USCIS) to enroll for a full course of study
each fall and spring semester. The full course of study requirement is
one of the basic rules for the F and J student visa.
A full course of study is:
* Minimum of 12 hours per semester fall/spring for undergraduate
students
* Minimum of 9 hours per semester fall/spring for graduate
students
* Only one (1) online (W) course counts toward the full course
of study requirement
* Students are not required to enroll in courses during the
summer unless the summer semester is their first semester at
A&M-Commerce
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE PERMISSION FROM THE
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SERVICES OFFICE (ISSO) BEFORE ENROLLING IN LESS
THAN A FULL COURSE OF STUDY OR DROPPING BELOW A FULL COURSE OF STUDY
DURING THE SEMESTER. Failure to abide by this USCIS rule will
jeopardize your visa status.
There are very few exceptions to the full course of study requirement
and international students will need to consult with the ISSO for more
information or visit
