If you are traveling within the U.S. during spring break it is strongly
recommended that you keep your immigration documents (visa, passport,
I-94, and I-20) with you at all times.

If you are traveling outside the U.S. during spring break please
remember the following about your immigration documents:

* Your I-20 must have a travel signature on the last page of the
I-20 signed/dated within 12 months of the date you plan to re-enter the
U.S. A signature is not required each time you depart and is valid for
12 months beyond the date of the signature. Please see below for
information on how to request a travel signature.

* If your visa has expired then you will need to renew your visa
before you may re-enter the U.S. For more information visit the
Department of State website
<http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1268.html> or
Immigration and Customs Enforcement website
<http://www.ice.gov/sevis/travel/faq_f2.htm> .

* Your passport must be valid for at least six (6) months from
the date you re-enter the U.S.

* Your I-94 must be turned in at your point of departure
(ex...airport) and you will be issued a new I-94 when you re-enter the
U.S. If you fail to turn in your I-94 before you depart the U.S. please
contact the ISSO.

* The Department of State website recommends F-1 students be
prepared to provide proof of financial support (bank and sponsor
statement) and an unofficial transcript at the port of entry.

To request a travel signature complete the Travel Signature Request Form
at
http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/international/forms/travelsignaturerequestf
orm%28c%29.pdf and it is attached as well. You will need to bring your
I-20 to the ISSO in Halladay 104 or mail it to the ISSO at the address
listed on the Travel Signature Request Form. A travel itinerary may be
requested at the discretion of the ISSO. You may also come in person to
the ISSO to complete a travel request form and drop off your I-20.
Please make your request at least 1-2 weeks prior to your departure to
allow the ISSO time to process your request.

If you will miss any classes during your travels then a letter from all
of your instructor(s) whose class(s) you will miss is required. This
letter will be issued at the discretion of your instructor(s). For a
sample letter please click here
<http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/international/forms/Faculty%20travel%20let
ter.pdf> .

The purpose of this letter is two-fold: the letter is for the port of
entry official in case there are questions/concerns when you re-enter
the U.S. and so the ISSO can ensure the academic department is aware of
the student's travel plans in case the student's plans impact their
academic progress. A signature on the letter from the department head
and/or dean of the college may be required in certain circumstances.
