The Department of Public Safety has recently updated their document
requirements for F-1 and J-1 students. Students will no longer be
required to have a letter verifying their enrollment in order to apply
for a driver's license or renew their driver's license. We have
contacted the Department of Public Safety/DPS offices (driver's license
office) in Greenville and Sulphur Springs and they have confirmed this
information.

If you would like to apply for a driver's license or renew your driver's
license then you will need to provide your current I-20, passport, visa,
and I-94. If you have been issued multiple I-20's then you will need to
be prepared to provide the I-20 with your most recent port of entry
stamp. For more information please go to
http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/DriverLicense/.

If you go to a DPS to apply for a driver's license or renew your license
and they request a verification of enrollment letter please contact the
ISSO while you are at the DPS office and we will communicate with the
DPS office to ensure proper procedures are followed.
