Hello
The 17th Annual Multicultural Festival will be held on Friday, April 1,
2011 in the Sam Rayburn Student Center (SRSC) on the 2nd floor.
Currently, Texas A&M University-Commerce enrolls approximately 700
international students representing over 38 countries. The college
community, surrounding cities and schools come to explore the various
cultures and world during your festival. Over the years we have had
great response and praise for your multicultural festival, one, if not
the biggest event of the year at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
You recently received an email that provided information on the talent
show and fashion show and I would also like to encourage you and/or your
group to also set-up a display/food table for the festival. I would
like to encourage your group to consider setting up a table to share
about and provide a sampling of food from your culture/country.
Attached is the table reservation form for the festival and this form is
due no later than March 25. You may submit this form visa email to
John_Jones at tamu-commerce.edu or in person at the ISSO.
Please see below for a few notes regarding display tables:
* We would really encourage groups to provide BOTH food and
information/displays from their country or culture. In the past, some
groups have only provided food and I think it would be wonderful if
groups would also set up some kind of display with posters, art,
carvings, clothing, power points, videos, etc...sharing about their
culture. Obviously the food is one of the major attractions but my
desire has been to also provide more of a cultural experience as well.
* The past few years we have had some issues with groups arriving
very late to set up their display/food tables. This has reflected very
poorly on the entire event and the international student community. We
understand some of you are bringing food from the DFW area but groups
are very aware of the set-up times each year. This year, table
reservations will be first come first serve and groups MUST be at the
student center no later than 10am. If you would like a good location
then please be there early. Display/food table set-up will begin for
groups at 9am. Groups must have their display/food present in order to
reserve a table. Groups may not send a student ahead to reserve a
table.
* If you intend to sale merchandise at your table you must
contact John_Jones at tamu-commerce.edu to discuss any plans immediately.
