If you have a full-time graduate assistantship be sure to submit proof
of your full-time graduate assistantship and proof of GA insurance to
the ISSO immediately to avoid being charged for insurance through your
student account. The $297 insurance charge will be placed on all
non-exempted international student accounts soon and if you have not
provided the required documentation for your GA position you will be
charged.
If you have not reported your GA information yet, have your hiring
department send an email to Maggie_Thomas at tamu-commerce.edu or issue a
letter confirming your full-time GA position for the fall semester. You
will also need to have the Human Resource department provide
confirmation for when your GA insurance was/is effective. Pat Kropp in
the HR department may send an email to Maggie_Thomas at tamu-commerce.edu
confirming the effective date for your insurance.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are awarded a full-time graduate assistantship you
must sign up for the GA insurance with Pat Kropp in HR (you are not
automatically enrolled). There is a 90 day grace period before the GA
insurance is effective for students awarded a GA position for the first
time. You will be required to pay the $297 insurance premium and notify
the ISSO when your GA insurance takes effect.
