The ISSO is sponsoring a trip to the Texas State Fair on Friday, October
15. For more than 100 years the Texas State Fair has been a major
source of entertainment for millions. For more information please visit
http://www.bigtex.com/sft/.
"As a Texan and a resident of the Dallas area I have gone to the State
Fair of Texas for over 30 years and it is one of the best ways to see
people, products, and talent from Texas and around the world. Take a
camera, there are a lot of fun and interesting things to take your
picture with. Sit in a bring shiny new truck or fancy car, touch an
animal you may have never gotten close to, see handmade crafts, and new
and innovated products. Eat foods that you NEVER thought could be cooked
and fried the way they are,

p?PRelId=6 . Take a backpack for the free items that you may find. There
are many things to see and do at the State Fair each year and I enjoy
going every time." Brenda
The cost for the trip is $15 which will include transportation and
admission into the fair. Events for Oct 15th can be found at
http://bigtex.com/sft/nav/documents/1015.pdf. We will depart from the
parking lot by Gee Lake and the Performing Arts Center at 8:30am and
depart from the state fair around 9:00pm after the conclusion of the
evening light show. It is round trip and you will leave on the bus from
Commerce and return on the bus to Commerce. There will be a $50 penalty
for students who fail to return to Commerce on the bus. Students may
sign up in person at the ISSO and the deadline to sign up is 5pm on
October 8. There will be no refunds for the trip after October 8.
There are many, many free events, concerts, entertainment, etc .....but
there are also vendors and people who are promoting products and
services that you may want to buy
You will need to bring additional funds for food and drink and
action/carnival rides on the Midway. There are also several museums
that will be hosting different free events and displays but there may be
special displays at an additional cost. You can carry your own picnic
food and beverages if you want but arrangements will be need to be made
to remove them from the buses at designated times. For a list of what
you can bring and what should be left at home go to
