Many of you will be traveling outside the U.S. this spring break or
summer to visit with family and friends or to go on vacation and we
wanted to remind you of the travel requirements. Attached you will find
an frequently asked questions from the Student Exchange Visitor Program.
The signature on the last page of your I-20 is for travel validation and
for re-entry into the U.S. and the signature is valid for one year from
the date of signing to re-enter the U.S. If your signature has expired
or will expire while you are outside the U.S. then you will need to have
Brenda or I sign the I-20 again. Please allow us at least 1-2 business
days to sign the I-20.
If your visa has expired of will expire while you are outside the U.S.
you will be required to renew it before you can re-enter the U.S. For
information on visa renewal please visit
http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1268.html. The ISSO will
issue a verification of enrollment letter for students who need to renew
their visa and you may request this letter at
http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/international/forms.asp with our online
request form. Please allow 2-3 business days for us to issue the
letter.
Students ALWAYS need to travel with their immigration documents-
passport, visa, I-94, I-20, and EAD if on OPT- whether traveling INSIDE
the U.S. or OUTSIDE the U.S.
