[Intl-stu] Concerning housing scholarships

[International Students]

Many international students have contacted our office regarding housing
scholarships and we wanted to provide you with the most current
information.  The university has developed a plan to renovate housing
facilities on-campus and the administration has been concerned that the
Department of Residential Living and Learning (Residence Life) may not
be able to provide as much funding for the housing scholarship program
as it has in the past.  The administration is currently reviewing the
budget for the housing scholarship program and should make a decision on
any changes with the housing scholarship by the summer.  

 

The university administration and relevant departments are currently
evaluating funding for all current housing scholarship recipients so
that their scholarship will be renewed for the Fall 2009 semester as
long as they met the eligibility requirements.  If you are a current
recipient of the housing scholarship and you have not made reservations
in housing for the Fall 2009 semester we strongly advise you to confirm
your reservation as soon as possible with Residential Living and

I would also recommend not applying for the housing scholarship until
there has been a decision made regarding the program.  Please understand
that funding may be very limited for the 2009-2010 academic year for any
new applicants.  We will send out any updated scholarship information as
soon as we know.      

 

Also, students who plan to study during the summer semester and are
currently the recipient of the housing scholarship only (no GA or other
$1000 competitive scholarship), must live on-campus to receive the
in-state tuition waiver.
