[Intl-stu] Traveling over the holidays!

International Students intl-stu at TAMU-Commerce.edu
Tue Dec 8 09:01:44 CST 2009

The end of the semester is fast approaching and many of you are making
or have made plans to travel during the break within the U.S. or to your
home country. Please keep in mind the following:

*	As always, we recommend that international students ALWAYS
travel with their immigration documents (I-20, passport, visa, and I-94)
whether they are traveling within or outside the U.S.
*	If you travel outside the U.S. you will need a valid visa,
passport, and I-94 as well as your I-20 with a signature on the last
page within the previous 12 months of the date you plan to re-enter.
Please be sure to check the end dates on your passport, visa, and I-20
prior to departure.
*	The passport has to be valid for at least 6 months beyond the
date of your reentry. To renew your passport you will need to contact
your countries embassy within the U.S. or while you are home.
*	If you need to renew your visa please visit
http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1268.html for information
on visa renewal.
*	The ISSO strongly discourages students from returning after the
start of the spring semester.

If you do not have a signature on the last page of your I-20 or this
signature is more than a year from the date you plan to reenter the U.S.
then you will need to bring your I-20 to the ISSO for a travel
validation signature. We may not be able to sign the I-20 immediately
so please be prepared to leave your I-20 for up to three days.
