Residence Life has contacted the International Student Services office
in regard to some major problems with a few of the international student
residence and their guests at Cowling Hall. These problems have
involved violations of Residence Life rules and regulations and the
complete disregard for the specific instructions of the Residence Life
staff in regards to these rules and regulations.
Residence Life works very hard to provide the appropriate accommodations
and to meet the specific needs of the international students who live in
the residence halls. The ISSO is very frustrated by the continual lack
of respect for university rules and regulations by a small group of
international students in the residence halls, and the negative impact
this small group has on the overall opinion of the university community
toward the general international student and scholar population on
campus.
Effective immediately, Residence Life has suspended all visitation at
Cowling Hall for the remainder of the Summerr and any violator will be
removed by the University Police.
Any disciplinary action taken by the university or the University Police
may require reporting to USCIS by our office and may jeopardize an
international student's immigration status.
In addition, further disregard for Residence Life rules and regulations
and the willful disregard of the staff of the residence halls in
relation to these rules and regulations will result in being banned from
living in the residence halls, being placed on probation, and the lose
of all scholarships.
It is our hope that the students involved recognize the seriousness of
the situation and the impact their actions have on other international
students, and take appropriate action to abide by the rules and
regulations of Residence Life.
