For students applying for CPT employment in the fall semester please be
sure to go to
http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/international/Fall_2004/Forms/cpt.htm and
complete all forms and follow all directions for CPT authorization.

To remind you of the rules of CPT employment:

* You CANNOT BEGIN CPT employment until you have been authorized
by the ISSO by issuance of the I-20 reflecting CPT employment.

* CPT employment is directly connected to a specific course, you
must be enrolled in the course and can receive course credit from your
employment, and employment must terminate when the course ends at the
end of the semester. CPT cannot be extended into a non-registered
semester.

* CPT can be full or part-time, but you must continue to take a
full course load unless it is your last semester. If it is your last
semester be sure to submit a Reduced Course Load form BEFORE the
beginning of the semester. The form is located on our website or in the
international office.

* You cannot hold both a CPT position and a graduate
assistantship.

CPT authorization is done by appointment only, the ISSO staff will not
be available Thursday, August 21 or Friday, August 22 for appointments
due to university commitments and new student orientation.
