SUBJECT: Reminder:
1. Check your I-20 expiration date (#5, page 1). If your I-20 is
expiring on May 31, 2006 and you cannot complete your course of studies,
you must request an extension of your I-20 within the month of May before
May 31. You will need to make an appointment with an adviser in the ISS
office. You will also need to provide a new sponsor/bank statement and a
degree plan showing the exact number of required courses left after the
spring semester. Failure to extend your I-20 in time (before May 31) will
cause you to be out-of-status.
2. If you are graduating on May13, 2006 with one degree and planning to
begin a new degree in the summer-06 or in the fall-06, you must apply and be
admitted to a new degree program within 60 days after May 13, 2006. Once you
are fully admitted to a new degree, you must contact the adviser in the ISS
office to do a change of level of education in SEVIS as soon as possible
within these 60 days. A new I-20 with a new start date must be issued to you
for a new degree. Failure to report a change of level of education in SEVIS
within 60 days after May 13 will cause you to be terminated automatically in
SEVIS.
3. Last day to apply for Spring 06 OPT Employment is Monday, May 1, to
allow ample mailing time. Your OPT application will be rejected and returned
if it reaches the Texas Service Center after May 12, 2006.
