SUBJECT: Multicultural International Festival
Spring is around the corner and so is the 11th Annual Multicultural
International Festival. The Festival will be on Friday, April 1, 2005,
11am-2pm, American Ballroom, MSC building.
For many of you who had attended our festival in the past had already
witnessed the way we celebrate diversity and different cultures on our
campus honoring international students at TAMU-Commerce. Please join us
again this year.
For those who have not attended this wonderful event, here is your chance to
experience it.
The International Student Services Office (ISSO) and the Association of
International Students (AIS) have sponsored and hosted the Annual
Multicultural International Festival every year in the spring to celebrate
the rich diversity and different cultures represented by all international
students at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
The Festival features the international flag parade, booths from different
countries, international food sampling, and stage entertainment. All
students, faculty and staff, and people in the community and nearby are
invited to attend this Festival. Admission ticket is $3 per person.
TAMU-Commerce students who sign up to participate in assigned activities or
duties will be provided with FREE admission tickets.
Currently there are about 360 international students from 52 different
countries at TAMU-Commerce. You are strongly encouraged to represent your
country and culture by showing your presence and your participation in this
Festival.
There will be 4 categories of activities that you can sign up for.
* Flag carrier in the flag parade ( flags will be provided by the
ISSO, need one carrier from each country)
* Booth attendance for cultural demonstration or display from your
country (CD, Video, Power points, posters, etc.)
* Food server for authentic food sampling (cost for food will be
reimbursed by the ISSO up to a limit after the Festival)
* Stage entertainment (cultural presentation, costumes/performance,
singing, dancing, etc.)
The International Student Services Office and the Association of
International Students have a goal to make this Festival the best one ever.
However, we cannot reach this goal without your help. Therefore, we are
asking for your support, participation and commitment. Please contact the
ISSO to sign up for any activities listed above. You do not have to be a
registered student organization on campus to sign up for this event. If you
are the only student representing your country on this campus, you are very
much encouraged to at least sign up as a flag carrier. If there is more than
one student from your country on this campus, you can sign up for more than
one activity.
Please let us hear from you soon. The deadline to sign up for activities is
Friday, March 11, 2005.
