Dear humor researchers,

1. 7th Humor Research Conference 2017, Dallas
Our conference is just a month away!
http://www.tamuc.edu/humor
Deadline for submissions of presentations/posters is in a week: Feb. 15.

If you want to join us in Dallas from March 9-11, please register asap and indicate your interest in the free workshops:
http://marketplace.tamuc.edu/HumorConference
We already have participants confirmed from the United States (surprise, surprise), the United Kingdom, Sweden, Malaysia, Chile, Mexico, France, and Puerto Rico (maybe Australia?).

2. Humor Survey
Below is a link to a survey by Maggie Baisley, who is studying clinical psychology at the Uniformed Services University. I had a tiny role in assisting her with it and it is now ready for participants. The survey is very long, but the benefit is that you get training in using humor to improve your stress response and relationships as you take the it and you can also get a profile of your humor style. Help (humor) research!

Best,
Kiki

Description:

Why does humor cause pain sometimes and relief other times? Want to learn to use humor to benefit yourself and bring you closer to people you care about?

The electronic Humor to Cope and Connect (e-H2C) workshop will teach you principles and strategies for using humor in ways that optimize benefits and avoid harm. This workshop presents information based on research about humor that has not previously been all in one place and available to a general audience. It is broken down into manageable and understandable bites with opportunities to apply new concepts. The workshop and associated questionnaires take approximately 2-4 hours to complete. You may take it all at once, or take breaks. Please consider participating in the workshop development study and then providing us with feedback about your experience.
