[Humor] Humor Research Conference March 9-11, 2017

[Christian Hempelmann]

Dear previous HRC attendees,

Here’s a first notice about the conference, because by now you must be wondering why you haven’t heard from us yet.

The next Humor Research Conference will take place in Dallas from March 9-11, 2017. We pushed the date out, because Dallas has too many events in February, making hotel rooms expensive.

The theme for this year’s international, friendly, all-plenary conference will be multidisciplinarity. As in previous years, this is not a conference on the linguistics of humor, all approaches are welcome, some of the organizers just happen to be afflicted by linguistics;-)

As in 2015, the venue will be Texas A&M-Commerce’s Universities Center<http://www.tamuc.edu/academics/locations/dallas/directions.aspx> in downtown Dallas, accessible by DART local trains from both Dallas airports. The conference hotel will be also be the Hotel Indigo<https://www.ihg.com/hotelindigo/hotels/us/en/dallas/dalar/hoteldetail> again, which is conveniently attached to the conference venue. A set of rooms has been blocked at $155/night+taxes. We’ll help budget-conscious travelers by organizing room sharing.

Attendees should plan to arrive on Thursday, 3/9/2017, either in the morning to attend a pre-conference workshop, or by the evening for a plenary talk. Full conference sessions will run all day Friday and Saturday, with casual events planned for both evenings. Return travel can commence on Sunday, 3/12/2017.

We will soon follow up with submission deadlines, which will be at the very end of this year, and further information. The conference website<http://www.tamuc.edu/humor> will soon be updated as well.

Please spread the word and we hope to see you in March!
Kiki
