Good afternoon,

The Graduate School recently sent the following information to students enrolled in a 518 or 718 course.  Included in our email to students were the following Graduate School submission deadlines for Spring 2019, Summer 2019, and Fall 2019. If you have any students who you know are not currently registered in 518 or 718 this semester, but could still benefit from this information, please forward this information to them.

Deadlines for 518 Students

Fall 2019:
Last day to defend final thesis to be eligible for Fall 2019 graduation:  Friday, October 25, 2019
Last day to submit final thesis to TDS for Fall 2019 graduation: Friday, November 1, 2019
Last day to submit thesis proposals to TDS for Fall 2019 approval: Friday, November 22, 2019

Spring 2020:
Last day to defend final thesis to be eligible for Spring 2020 graduation:  Friday, March 27, 2020
Last day to submit final thesis to TDS for Spring 2020 graduation: Friday, April 3, 2020
Last day to submit thesis proposals to TDS for Spring 2020 approval: Friday, April 24, 2020

Deadlines for 718 Students



Fall 2019--Dissertation Proposals:

Ø    Schedule the proposal defense<http://www.tamuc.edu/academics/graduateSchool/documents/Dissertationproposalscheduleform.pdf> with your advisor and committee by the 20th of the month prior to your scheduled proposal date.
Once the form is fully signed, submit it to Vicky Turner in the Graduate School (Vicky.turner at tamuc.edu<mailto:Vicky.turner at tamuc.edu>).  Be sure to include a copy of your dissertation proposal with your schedule form. (The Graduate School will not review the proposal at this time; the proposal will be used to select a Graduate Representative to attend your proposal defense.)

Ø    Last day to submit dissertation proposals to TDS for Fall 2019 approval: Friday, November 22, 2019


Fall 2019-Final Dissertations:

Ø    Last day to submit a schedule for final defense of your dissertation to be eligible for Fall 2019 graduation:  September 20, 2019
Once the form is fully signed, submit it to Vicky Turner in the Graduate School (Vicky.turner at tamuc.edu<mailto:Vicky.turner at tamuc.edu>).

Ø    Last day to defend final dissertation to be eligible for Fall 2019 graduation:  Friday, October 25, 2019

Spring 2020-Dissertation Proposals:

Please keep in mind, for doctoral students, grades of U now impact academic standing, including U's earned in 718.



As you may be aware, the Graduate School changed its review process beginning with submission this Fall 2019 semester.  Reviews of proposals, final theses, and final dissertations, will be limited to adherence to Graduate School formatting requirements based on the templates and formatting guides provided on the Graduate School webpages listed below.

These changes will reduce TDS review and response time, while allowing students and advisors to own the style and content review of their thesis and dissertation documents. It will now be the responsibility of the student in conjunction with his or her advisor to ensure that the appropriate style guide is followed.

Other Deadlines:
Schedule Forms for dissertation defenses (proposal and final) are due the 20th of the month prior to the defense date (if the 20th of the month falls on a weekend or university holiday, submit the form on the working day prior to the deadline).
Thesis students must submit the Notification Form for the Final Thesis Defense at least 7 days prior to the defense.

Early submissions are encouraged. Approvals for submissions received past the deadline will be processed for the following semester.
