Good morning:
Please see the invitation below to join in the Safe Places seminar (with lunch)! CoSEA could really use a broader presence here and I strongly urge you to consider attending as part of your ongoing professional development and service activities.

Dear Grady:
The Safe Spaces project, which I co-direct with Nick Patras, has really been taking off, with a new format (two two-hour workshops, with meals), and we are able to train more people than ever before, including students. The Ally Week is being celebrated for the first time, with the screening of the Award-winning documentary film, "The Raid of the Rainbow Lounge," last night, and a panel discussion that included participation by our new provost who stated that he is committing to attending the workshops this fall, and a lovely video by President Jones who could not attend encouraging people to participate in the training and work to make the campus a safer space for all our students.
We hope to begin offering even more workshops, but there will be at least six offered next spring. There has been a fairly low representation of faculty and staff from your College in the past, with Dr. Lemanski being the only one who has completed the training. I'm hoping that you and he could encourage people to learn something about the Ally Project (http://www.tamuc.edu/CampusLife/CampusServices/safeSpaces/default.aspx) and consider attending.
The workshop schedule is listed below: the Spring 2013 deadlines are not listed on the Training and Development calendar yet, but faculty, students, and staff can register through the email link on the Safe Spaces Ally Project page linked above).
Thank you!
Robin
