[COSEAfaculty] Faculty meeting on June 20th for 12.03.99.R1FacultyWorkload.docx

I have a couple of questions about the document- first, is there a newer version of it? Because (a) it was a version with track changes still in effect (not accepted), and (b) there were still a few typos, spacing errors, and such. So, should we wait for a newer version to make any comments, go ahead and comment on this version (if so, to whom), or leave it alone and let you guys deal with it all after the meeting?

Secondly, I'm also non-tenure track faculty, and am quite interested in the same topic as Pamela's discussion. Is this something particular which will be discussed at the meeting Thursday? I have a prior appointment, but may be able to make other arrangements if it would be important for me to attend this meeting.

Thanks-
Lani Lyman-Henley

This last phrase was apparently omitted in the final version I shared in my email yesterday. I am assuming the omission of this phrase was an error. I am following up now and I will certainly share the answer I get back.

When we spoke of this earlier in the spring semester, you mentioned that faculty who are not tenure track but who CHOOSE to do RSCA work would still be able to keep their 24 hour load (in particular, those of us who are "Professional Track" and who are already writing grants, journal articles, etc.). However, the document does not mention anything about this. Instead, it says that the load WILL BE 30 hours. (See below.) I know that it also states that we as a college can give reassign time, and I would like to make sure this is addressed. .I hope that the college-specific version of this procedure will have this clearly spelled out, so that there is no confusion when it comes time to assign workloads.

It is important that the expectations are known as early as possible so that these faculty can adjust accordingly.

A huge round of thanks go out to Derald Harp for his leadership and bird-dogging skills on making this happen. This is the most dramatic change I have seen since my arrival here in 2011. I am very happy to see this vote of confidence in, by, and for our colleagues.
