Thanks Vanessa:

Unfortunately we do not have the option of doing nothing. The new university procedure passed by the Faculty Senate and the various administrative layers states:

"Each college shall develop and maintain a published procedure for workload in the following areas:

	3.2.1 Honor’s Thesis Supervision
	3.2.2 Master’s Thesis Supervision (including 595?)
	3.2.3 Doctoral Dissertation Supervision
	3.2.4 Independent Study
	3.2.5 Laboratory Instruction"

So we do not have much leeway.

Grady

I can not be there by this afternoon. Faculty do not feel valued. I would suggest that no changes be made in the policy. The other option would be to increase teaching loads and for faculty to stop research, grants and working with individual students.

Good morning:

I apologize for the late notice but we are getting significant interest in the CoSEA Workload Procedure which was due on Monday.

Jim Heitholt suggested that we all (chairs and faculty) get together at 3 this afternoon to discuss the pending issues and proposals for changes. Let's try the CoSEA conference room. If too many people show up we can move down the hall.
