[COSEAfaculty] Some administrivia

[Grady P Blount]

Good afternoon:

Goodness! That was a fast academic year!

I want to take a few moments to update you on some administrivia from
the dean's office.

As you are no doubt aware, we are winding down 18 faculty searches
including 3 department head searches. I am very pleased with the quality
of candidates our search committees produced. As a result, we have two
new administrative appointments to announce: Dr. Tingxiu Wang of
Northeast Missouri State will be joining us as the new chair of
mathematics, and Dr. Matt Wood of the Florida Institute of Technology
will be joining us as the new chair of physics and astronomy. Let's
welcome them both on board.

Unfortunately, we had to call a failed search on the BES chair. We will
be readvertising this position shortly. In the interim, Dr. Jim
Heitholt, chair of Agricultural Sciences has graciously agreed to
co-chair for his colleagues in BES until we can get a permanent chair on
board. Thank you Jim and thanks to the Ag faculty for agreeing to share
him temporarily!

Lastly, we are in the home stretch getting ready for SACS and I have
been in dire need is assistance in our data acquisition, analysis, and
evaluation chores. I feel very lucky indeed that Dr. Chip Fox has agreed
to come on board as CoSEA Assistant Dean to assist in this most critical
of all tasks facing us. He will be working 75% time out of the dean's
office and will take a huge load off our collective shoulders. Thank you
Chip!

All the best for now, Grady
