Subject: CURCA
Dear Colleagues,
Many thanks again for taking the time to meet and brainstorm some ideas
about the future of our Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative
Activities (CURCA). Show below are some bullet points from our
discussion:
1. Continue to work with the Provost office to get a budget line
for this office, this could be a request to the Budget Council next
year. Action: Headley will initiate a discussion with the Provost.
2. Work with Randy Jolly's office to assist with the making of an
attractive video about the mission of CURCA (i.e., Changing lives
through research!) The target audience would be students thinking of
college (HS seniors) and also freshmen. This video would also be a
recruiting instrument at orientation sessions, etc. Action: Tom will
contact Randy Jolly to follow up.
3. Host a series of informal workshops/brown bag lunches to inform
students about the benefits and excitement of research. Action: Grady
will work with Tom to get these started.
4. Generate more ideas about how Social Media can be used as an
outreach to better market the services and benefits of CURCA. Action:
Tom will research this aspect.
5. Provide a CURCA's link to each college webpage. Action: Tom will
contact Ken to get this done.
Let us keep the discussion going and if there are additional ideas,
please respond to all. I will try and get us together again soon so
that we can continue these discussions.
Sincerely,
Allan Headley
