Subject: Faculty member to chair SACSCOC Compliance Reaffirmation
Committee
Importance: High

Deans,

We are fast arriving at a critical time in the reaffirmation of
accreditation process. For some time now, both Roseann and I have been
asking to have a faculty member be named to chair the reaffirmation for
accreditation committee, as a faculty led committee is the best model in
the eyes of SACS.

As I indicated to Dr. Lemanski this afternoon, there needs to be
immediate appointment. Dr. Lemanski said this could be an agenda item
for the next deans council. So, I ask that you please review your
faculty rosters to see who within your college you would nominate.
(Surely I do not have to describe the necessary credentials.) Then, come
prepared next Tuesday to discuss your nominations and try to come to
consensus for the appointment.

If you have some initial conversations with possible nominees, you can
share some the support that will be provided. During the last
reaffirmation process, the chair of the compliance reaffirmation
committee had a .50FTE reassignment for this task, as well as a GA and
half-time administrative assistance with dedicated office space. I see
no reason that this same level of support cannot be provided this time.

Dr. Hogan has the overall responsibility for the SACS reaccreditation.
My role at this time is to phase out of any leadership responsibilities,
but I certainly will assist in any way requested (or stay out of the way
completely)

We can all agree that the successful reaccreditation of this institution
is very critical. We have overcome some past challenges that we never
want to face again. It will take all who are around the table to achieve
this goal.
