<p class="MsoNormal">CHSSA invites you to help make this year’s <b>Civil Discourse Symposium</b> a meaningful learning experience for you and faculty. Taking place on
<b>Tuesday, April 7</b>, at the Rayburn Student Center, the symposium is a student-focused event designed to strengthen skills essential across all disciplines: critical thinking, respectful dialogue, active listening, and thoughtful engagement with differing
viewpoints. Students will also have the opportunity to interact with public officials, participate in discussions and apply what they learn in real time.

<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The day will feature many dignitaries, including CHSSA’s own
<b>Dr. Mark Menaldo,</b> moderating for several Texas state representatives. This is your opportunity to ask your legislators what they are voting for, why and to tell them whether you think they are voting for things that represent your interests.

<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">There will also be nationally recognized speakers, including
<b>John Quiñones, </b>an award-winning journalist from<b> ABC News</b>, a media panel with
<b>Alexander Heffner</b>, host of<b> PBS</b>’s <i>The Open Mind, </i>and <b>Phil Prazan,</b> co-host of
<b>NBC’s</b> <i>Lone Star Politics.</i><o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">We encourage you to consider ways this event can connect with your course objectives, including:<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Two separate sessions are available – a morning session at 9:30 a.m., and afternoon session at 1:00 pm. Each session has a distinct offering. Select the session(s) that works for you and your schedule. No registration necessary; just bring
