New Leadership in the School of Music

[Patsy Patten]

Dear Students,

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Elizabeth Janzen has agreed to serve as the Inaugural Director and Head of the School of Music at East Texas A&M University. She will assume her duties on July 13, 2026.

Dr. Janzen joins us from Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where she has served as Interim Director of the School of Music and Professor of Flute. She holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Toronto and both a Master's and Doctorate of Musical Arts from the Manhattan School of Music. She also completed a post-graduate fellowship through ACJW, a collaboration among Carnegie Hall, The Juilliard School, and the Weill Music Institute. She is excited and honored to join the ETAMU community as the Inaugural Director and Head of our prestigious School of Music.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Janzen to ETAMU and in wishing her every success in this critical leadership role.

Best regards,
Joe
