Greetings all!

This is really wonderful news. And thanks to tweets from Marisa and Sara-- and the CBW live blogging-- those of us who couldn't attend the workshop yesterday had a chance to be virtually present. What a difference technology makes!

The term I couldn't think of Wednesday night is: "ability to benefit."
This was a federal category for students who could attend college
without having earned either the GED or a high school diploma if they
could demonstrate "ability to benefit" from college." As of July 1, 2012,
that category will be eliminated, as will federal financial aid for
students in that category. See: http://www.insidehighered.com/news/2012/03/20/colleges-worry-about-end-federal-aid-based-ability-benefit

Here are links to Pearson's involvement in the GED. http://www.pearson.com/media-1/announcements/?i=1399 and http://www.citylimits.org/conversations/167/the-ged-private-property-public-good

Have a good SIG tonight -- and enjoy the rest of the conference!

Peace and best,

Susan
Hey everyone,

Thanks for a great day yesterday! Wow!!!!!!!

I'm writing with a quick update on the e board. I've written to all of our applicants. Based on our conversation on Tuesday, we decided to respond in 3 ways: offer 5 invitations to join the board, offer another group an invitation to join one of our subcommittees and then a third group we are asking to be "active in CBW" because they are too new.
Hi Friends,

We're looking forward to a busy CBW presence at CCCC. Hannah and I look forward to kicking things off at our exec board meeting on 3/20 from 6-8 p.m. We have a packed agenda as we figure out where to go from here. It's been a pretty amazing year of CBW activity!

We'll hold the meeting in Marisa's and my hotel room, a quick walk from the main CCCC hotel (it was booked when I got around to booking a room). The hotel is the DRURY Hotel, one of the overflow CCCC hotels. I don't have the room number yet, but I'll send an e-mail with it when I check in. I will also leave a message at the desk.
