WICKED smart, you! As a CBW poobah, I defer but celebrate the idea and
forward it to the poopah list.

I do not know if this has been done before, though I can say that at least
not in the handful of yours I've been involved. We approached Fountainhead
Press about donating some $ to continue the fabulous Bedford tradition of
supporting CBW Award for Innovation and CBW Fellowship Award (based on
generous funding through fab resources for BW like those Greg Glau and team
have developed through several editions--Bedford Bibliography on Basic
Writing)

We did not, however, approach them about hosting a party. Fun!

And folks unfamiliar with the CWPA breakfast Melissa mentioned in her very
humble way: It's a MAJOR tradition across the Council of Writing Program
Administrators. An amazing number of folks get up crazy early during way,
way busy CCCC to have breakfast with (how many? hundred or so? more?) of
their closest friends. Every. Year. (I believe I am alone in missing it
most years, and I always regret it after hearing hte conversations that
took place there . . . alas, early is not my best time).

Breakfast is, indeed early: but they have found a tradition in it because
it is not likely to conflict with other events and everybody's gotta eat.

Love to hear others weigh in, though. I think it's brilliant!
