Let start by again thanking you for your support for our efforts to improve the attention paid to basic writing at CCCC. We appreciate all you've done, but, of course, that doesn't deter us from asking for a little more.<BR>
<BR>
We are working on a session on the future of basic writing, which we hope you will be able to include as a "featured session." The panel will include Lynn Troyka and me and, we hope, Mike Rose, who, in addition to all he's done over the years, has just published an important piece on basic writing in IHE. As you may know, in recent years, Mike has experience some physical problems that make travel extremely difficult for him.<BR>
<BR>
He is, nevertheless, considering our invitation to join our panel. In a phone call this morning, he mentioned that, if he is going to subject himself to another airplane flight, it would be great if he could maximize what he can do at CCCC. He didn't say anything specific and he certainly didn't suggest that I write you, but I wonder if there is any kind of opening in the program at which such a major voice in our profession could be featured, perhaps something like what was done for Andrea Lunsford this past year.<BR>

If you were able to recognize Mike in some way at the conference, it would not only be well-deserved recognition for a very deserving professional, it would also contribute in a major way to CBW's efforts to breathe more life into basic writing at CCCC, and it would increase the likelihood that Mike would accept our invitation. <BR>
