I just got off the phone after about an hour's conversation with Mike Rose. He hasn't said yes, but he also hasn't said no. I suggested that something along the lines of his recent piece in IHE,
updated for next spring's conditions, would be perfect.

He is hesitant about "getting back on the travel and lecture train." He has some severe issues with pain in his back, and traveling aggravates those problems. In recent years, he has succeeded in greatly reducing the amount of traveling he does, and he's worried
that getting started again will snowball.

He also said that if he is going to go to St Louis, he would like to make the most of the trip. So he's looking around for other opportunities besides our session that he might be able to participate in. I mentioned that if he wanted to join our Wednesday
workshop, we would be elated. I hope I didn't overstep my authority by mentioning the workshop. If anyone has any thoughts or connections that might give MIke another opportunity at CCCC, please let me know, and I'll pass them on.

Mike also mentioned that he was extremely happy to see Lynn's "smart and important" comments on the IHE blog in response to his piece. If he does agree to speak at our session, it may be as much the result of Lynn's posting as my "pleading." Stay tuned.
