FYI: some more representation for BW on CCCC 2012 review team (me). I received a second name, which I sent forward as well. We may have additional coming soon.

As you may recall, the Chris Anson invited all the groups tied to CCCC (like CBW) to put forward names and contact info for potential reviewers. I forwarded that to CBW EB. This invitation is the result of that.

Thanks!
Subject: Invitation to Participate in Stage I Review

Colleagues:

I'm writing to invite you to be a Stage I reviewer of proposals for
the 2012 CCCC Convention in St. Louis. The success of the 2012
convention will depend on people like you who can use your expertise
in the field to make thoughtful, informed, and balanced decisions
about proposals and ensure that we create a strong program.

But before I go on, please excuse the somewhat impersonal nature of
this email. I'm trying to find the most efficient ways to work through
the daunting review process for next year's convention without turning
it all into a machine. At times, using group emails, surveys, and
other tools seems to help. I DO look forward to a more personal
exchange with each of you.

Whether or not you've participated in Stage 1 review before, let me go
over what it entails. If you accept this invitation, you'll get
instructions for logging into a protected site where you'll read a
batch of proposals that should take no more than a couple of hours to
review. You'll be asked to score each proposal on a scale of zero to
four, with four being reserved for only the strongest proposals. (You
may also write comments to explain your score; only other reviewers
will see them. Comments are helpful in cases where there is a wide
discrepancy between individual reviewer scores.) Each proposal will be
scored by at least two reviewers. The identities of reviewers and
proposers are not revealed.

To accept or decline the invitation to be a Stage I reviewer, please
go to the following URL by Friday, April 30 and complete the 2-minute
survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/FXR7D5Y

If you accept the invitation, the survey will ask you to rank-order
four areas in which you want to review proposals, based on your
expertise and comfort level. I know that the clusters are problematic
on several levels, but they're what we have to work with for now.
We'll do our best to assign you to proposals in your preferred areas.

For your convenience, I've pasted the cluster areas at the end of this
message. Note that they've been renumbered and alphabetized, and
include a new cluster this year, #7: "Interdisciplinary,
Multidisciplinary, and Cross-Contextual Perspectives." I especially
encourage you to volunteer to read proposals in this cluster if you
have experience working across various disciplinary and professional
borders. The entire 2012 call for proposals can be found at http://www.ncte.org/cccc/conv

I hope that you'll accept this invitation to help me create a dynamic
and exciting program for the 2012 convention in St. Louis. Your
participation is an important contribution to the continuing strength
of our discipline and the quality of our annual conference.

If you have specific questions or concerns, please feel welcome to
email me.

Many thanks!
