featured session on BW research (next gen)

I agree with what appears to be emerging as consensus concerning these suggested Featured Sessions. It does make sense to request just one BW panel, for all the reasons everyone suggested. I don't want BW to appear greedy and, like everyone else, am grateful to Chris for the oppotunity to foreground BW in one of his featured sessions. I also see no reason to pit two BW panels against one another. That was the opposite of my intent.

With that, I have decided against requesting any consideration for featuring this other panel I asked you all about. When I began thse conversations, I did not know how it worked and wanted to be sure CBW put forward a panel proposal to be (potentially) featured. We have that in the one you guys are planning. It will certainly be a draw, which is what we want.

Suggestion: Be neat to include someone on featured panel who entered field in last few years, too. As we know quite well, there is some amazing work going on in publications emerging from recent graduates and junior faculty too, much of which would also be quite a draw and worthy of inclusion in a Featured Session.

My 2cents. :)

I like your thinking on this, Kelly. I think CBW should foreground the
panel bill, Peter, and Lynn are building as that seems likely to have
the greatest impact.

I was a little frustrated with heavy featuring of one group at cccc
2011. I don't want to be that group.

How about this angle:
We press forward with panel on bw research, as planned. We suggest in
proposal we see this linked to proposal discussed above and, if both
are accepted, would welcome opportunity to foreground these links in
program, perhaps even as double featured session. However, we would
rather any suggested link be set aside when determining merits of
individual proposals and are eager to see (other panel title) featured
whether or not it seems appropriate to likewise feature this one.

It's a panel I'd like to see whether featured or not.

The one above should be featured, tho. Hope review team agrees.
