Seems much of the email I sent Sunday got delayed at the gate. Apologies if you are receiving this twice.

-----Original Message-----
From: Shannon Carter
Sent: Sun 9/26/2010 6:09 PM
To: CBW_Exec@tamu-commerce.edu
Subject: FW: CBW 2011

Forwarding from Hannah, but with some heavy support. As you may recall, it was decided that in the interest of rigor we would reject a portion of the proposals we received. Several offered to mentor those who were turned down in order to push forward a larger, more inclusive infrastructure for CBW that allows for our newer voices to be heard as well as those more experienced one.

That said, here's Hannah . . .

CBW Board--Let's put our money where our mouth is. Would someone be willing to reread Sara's proposal and get in touch with her to chat about why it may have received mixed reviews (some up and some down) and/or was not selected for presentation, and what else she might do with that piece?

Each year, the Council on Basic Writing (CBW) holds a day-long workshop to the national CCCC (Conference on College Composition and Communication) begins. As you know, the theme of the 2001 CBW workshop is "We Are Not Alone: Strategic Coalition Building Across (Contested) Spaces Serving Basic Writers." While reviewers appreciated much about your work, there were an array of strong proposals, and those selected were most tightly linked to the theme, as well as conveying an innovative approach to it.

The CBW very much wants to support scholars in the field, especially emerging scholars. If you would like feedback about your proposal, mentorship about revision, or guidance about where else to submit your work, please contact CBW Co-Chairs Shannon Carter Shannon Carter [Shannon_Carter@tamu-commerce.edu] and Hannah Ashley [hashley@wcupa.edu] and we will put you in touch with a member of the CBW Board who would be happy to discuss your proposal with you.

Please consider submitting to BWe, The Basic Writing E-Journal, for its special issue Multimodal Composing: Opportunities and Challenges in Basic Writing Contexts at http://orgs.tamu-commerce.edu/BWe/documents/Finals/2011submissions.pdf (Oct 15, 2010 Deadline).
