<div>Hi all,</div>
<div> </div>
<div>I just tried to send the message copied below, but it was bounced for being "too long." I just deleted the rest of the conversation and will try again. I apologize if you end up getting this twice.</div>

<div>Yes, Peter. I am listening and was actually on the phone with Deborah when your message came in. Here's what the two of us are thinking. Why don't you, Sugie, and a 3rd person propose a panel of 3 speakers to respond to the issues raised in the last chapter of the <em>Basic Writing</em> book by George and me? I would love to be listed as a respondent on this rather than a presenter since my presentation this year was pretty closely adapted from the last chapter of the book. Deborah would be glad to be a respondent as well. She's already committed to another panel, and I plan to propose another unrelated presentation as well. But I do think that the last chapter of the book would provide a good focus for the panel, a starting point, something that I only feel comfortable about since the book is available open access to all.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>If you think this is a good idea, why don't you and Sugie take the planning from here. I thought Sugie's list of questions with Deborah's addition were the key things to focus on. Deborah and I think that it's important that the panel be geographically and institutionally diverse if possible. Once you get further along in the planning process, if you'd like me to read and respond to the proposal, I'd be glad to.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The issue of what has been happening to basic writing is such an important issue and definitely something that deserves attention at CCCC. </div>

<div>P.S. I apologize for not entering this conversation sooner. I've been incredibly busy since the conference in Louisville--as I'm sure you all are.<br><br></div>
