The City College of New York English Department MA in Language and Literacy continues to prepare teachers of college writing, basic writing, and ESL writing for employment in adult ed programs and colleges. This program was originally founded by Mina Shaughnessy in 1975 and was later developed and administered by Marilyn Sternglass. Faculty who have recently offered courses in this master's program include Kate Garretson, Elizabeth Clark, Mark McBeth, Lynn Troyka, Jane Maher, Tom Peele, and Barbara Gleason. <br>
Two recent L&L MA graduates have recently secured full-time tenure track assistant professor positions in community colleges.
