<div>Hello everyone,</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Thanks to Shannon for putting together this excellent proposal and to Kathleen for her careful proofreading. I just have a couple of things to add:</div>
<div> </div>
<div>1. Most importantly, I think we should rethink the main title. At least to me, it sounds dismissive of the competencies of "basic writers" (I KNOW this was not the intention, but I'm afraid others looking at the program book might see it that way. Like, there's so much they can't do, what CAN they do? How about something more like this: Basic Writers In and Out of School: A Conversation in Multiple Literacies.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>2. In terms of my contact info, thanks to Kathleen for catching the typo in Kingsborough; I would also like to have my Grad Center affiliation mentioned in this part: Rebecca Mlynarczyk, Kingsborough Community College and the CUNY Graduate Center.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>3. Finally, on the other conversation, I am very enthusiastic about the CCCC panel on Basic Writing and social justice and would love to be a part of it. I am currently mulling over thoughts before posting them to that conversation. In my opinion, this issue raised by Susan Naomi is the most important thing we could be talking about at CCCC in 2009.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Warm regards,</div>
<div> </div>
