Hello again and happy Super Tuesday!

So far it looks like most of us are available at 9 AM on Thursday April 3-- so let's do it! Kathleen and I will be back to you soon with a meeting place and an agenda.

If anyone has serious objections to this time/day, please let us know. Some of us don't have funding to stay for the entire week and many of us still need to make travel plans-- so Thursday morning seems to be the best compromise.

ALSO-- looking forward to hearing which sessions you would like to review. I'd like to send out a CFP to the CBW and WPA lists for other reviews as well. Again, let me know if there are any objections.

Thanks and best,

talk soon to draft an agenda. Meanwhile here are some items for your
consideration:

1) Executive Board Meeting: Let's plan a date/time for this meeting
before our dance cards get too full. I'd like the propose that we
meet at Thursday April 3 at 8 AM. This date/time will allow folks to
attend the WPA breakfast -- and will help out those of us who won't be
able to stay for Friday or Saturday.

If this time/date doesn't work for you, please suggest another.

2) Last year Kathleen and I attended a dynamite session on Mina
Shaunessy's legacy at CUNY. I believe it was Mary Soliday who
reminded us that Mina Shaughnessy used to assign her colleagues to
attend CCCC sessions related to Basic Writing so that they could
review together important trends in the field.

Kathleen and I agreed that we wanted to try this strategy for 2008.
So we'd like to propose that each of us on the Executive Board choose
at least one session to attend and to briefly review. We would like
to publish these reviews in a forthcoming issue of BWe.

To find a session of interest to you, please complete the following steps:

--Go to the CCCC searchable program at http://www.ncte.org/CCCC/program/

--Go to KEY WORD and type in BASIC WRITING. You can also go to FOCUS
and scroll down to BASIC WRITING. However, KEY WORD will yield more
sessions-- and happily there are a lot of them this year.

--Write back to Kathleen and me by February 22 stating which session
you would like to
review. We'd like to request that you not review your
own presentations (wonderful as those will be!)-- but to choose
something that is perhaps new to you or outside of your area. This
way we'll be able to cover a good cross section of the interesting
work that our colleagues are doing across the country.

Thanks so much for your continued committment to CBW. Kathleen and I
look forward to hearing from you soon!
serendipitous circumstances-- I am now living and working in Queens, NY.
